DEFQON.1

The 14th edition of the legendary DEFQON.1 Festival took place in the final weekend of June at the event site near Biddinghuizen in the Netherlands. DEFQON.1 is organised by Q-Dance and specializes in the harder styles of electronic dance music like hardstyle and hardcore. Lights in Motion was asked to embody the Dragonblood theme with our speciality in the fire performance arts.

Our role was brought to life with the help of make-up artists from House of Cherries, who transformed us into Dragon Warriors, consisting of Team Red and Team Blue. After the gates of the festival opened to the public on Friday evening, we welcomed the visitors as Dragon Warriors into the mythical world of DEFQON.1 with our fire performances.

The main event for us was on Saturday, with „Power Hour“ and an extraordinary Endshow, that took place on the mainstage of the festival. „Power Hour“ can best be described as an amazing hour of absolute madness, in which we participated at the end of the hour with freestyle performances on an immense mainstage.

The absolute climax of the event was the Endshow on Saturday evening: a completely timecoded 20-minute show, in which a plethora of stage lights, flamethrowers, lasers and fireworks treated the dazzled public with an overwhelming audiovisual experience. As Dragon Warriors we participated together with Saurus creatures of Close-Act Theatre in this spectacle to embody the live entertainment of the show. The resulting scene can best be described as a mix of Mad Max meets Jurrasic Park and should be viewed on the images of this page to fully comprehend the totality of the show.
